Camp Counselor
Overview
At Vertical View, our Camp Counselors play a vital role in creating a safe, engaging, and inspiring summer camp experience. Camp counselors are leaders, mentors, and role models who foster a positive environment where campers feel supported, challenged, and included.
Camp Counselors work directly with campers to create a fun, safe, and supportive experience through climbing and group activities.

Support campers stepping out of their comfort zones.

Supervise campers at all times.
Enforce safety policies and SafeSport practices.
Monitor camper health and emotional needs.
Ensure proper climbing setup and safety checks.
Anticipate and prevent unsafe or negative situations.
MENTORSHIP || Welcoming, community-centered, supportive, invested, attentive, cooperative
Build strong relationships with campers.
Adapt leadership to different ages and abilities.
Support challenges like fear, homesickness, or conflict.
Foster an inclusive and positive environment.
Model patience, kindness, and teamwork.
Camp Counselor Requirements
Must be 16+ years old
Minimum 12 hours/week (2 shifts)
Top Rope & Belay Takeover Certified (at our facility)
SafeSport Certified
Ability to stay active, belay, instruct, and lift up to 25 lbs
Physical Requirements
Demonstrates the capacity to move about the facility efficiently and to react in a timely way to safety situations
Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, and work for extended periods of time
