Groups FAQ

  • The Belay On Class will teach you all of the basics of belaying. With a climbing partner, you will have access to all of the roped climbs in the gym. Without the ability to belay, you still have access to the auto-belay and bouldering climbing areas.

  • You will learn how to tie in (as the climber) with a figure eight follow-through knot, how to belay a climber on top rope with the PBUS method, how to catch a fall, and how to lower the climber back down to the ground. This lesson will prepare you for taking the Top Rope Certification Test so that you can earn your belay tag.

  • The class is about 1 hour and is typically taught at the start of every hour: Monday - Saturday from 10am - 7pm, staff permitting.

  • Yes! You must be at least 12 years old to learn to belay.

  • Comfortable athletic wear is recommended. No skirts or dresses!

  • Yes. You can sign it here.

  • GROUPS must book 7 days in advance to receive the group rate. Walk-in groups do not qualify for group rates. If your group has more than 10 participants needing the Belay On Class, please book at least 14 days in advance so we can be sure to schedule enough staff.

  • Yes. You can “Add-On” a belayer for $20/hour. You may request multiple belayers.
    Belayers must be booked 14 days in advance.

Parties FAQ

  • PARTY booking deposits ($100) can be made through your Climbers Portal or by visiting or calling the front desk at 208-884-5611.
    GROUP booking deposits ($50) must be made by visiting or calling the front desk at 208-884-5611.

  • Yes. We do require a non-refundable deposit due at the time of booking.
    PARTY booking deposits: $100.
    GROUP booking deposits: $100.

  • If you need to cancel your party the deposit is non-refundable. However, if you provide at least seven days’ notice, you may reschedule or receive your deposit back in the form of a gift card that can be used towards any future purchase or booking at Vertical View. Any party canceled with less than seven days’ notice will forfeit their deposit.

  • Please call the front desk (208-884-5611) to let us know. You will not be eligible to extend your party because you were late. All belay classes start on the hour, every hour. If your package includes a belay class, you will be invited to wait for the next available class.

  • PARTY slots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Parties must be booked at least 14 days in advance in order to schedule belayers. If you would like to book a party with less than 14 days of notice, reach out to us at bookings@verticalview.com and we will do our best to make it happen.

  • Yes. Parties are only given access to the Party Room and Kitchen areas. This allows the belayers to keep the group together in one space.

  • Yes! There may be other parties booked ahead of yours so we ask that you come no earlier than 30 minutes before your scheduled party to set-up.

  • Yes. All guests, including spectators, must sign the Facility Waiver before arriving. Anyone under the age of 18 must have a waiver signed by their parent or legal guardian.

  • Yes! A full-sized fridge/freezer is available for the party.
    - Basic kitchen utensils are also available.
    - Tablecloths and paper products are provided.

  • Typically we start with climbing first and then make our way upstairs for food and celebrations. However, if you would like to reverse that order just let us know.

  • Vertical View will set up tables and chairs, dressing your party tables with black tablecloths. Plates, cups, napkins, and utensils are included. You are also welcome to bring in your own decorations.

  • Yes! There are a few public, first-come, first-served areas that are included with a Day Pass or membership: the stadium seating areas and 2nd-floor lounge areas. Food and drink are only permitted in the concrete, non-padded areas.

  • Yes! Please contact us at bookings@verticalview.com with your date and time request and we will do our best to make it happen.

  • Yes. However, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to schedule more belayers with short notice but we will do our best to try. Please reach out to us at bookings@verticalview.com if adding participants moves you up to the next tier.
