Programs Assistant Manager


Overview

As the Programs Assistant Manager you are responsible for helping to build and maintain adult and youth programs for Vertical View. These programs include but are not limited to climbers education, community events, clubs, and teams. You will play a role in the planning and expansion of programs, staffing needs including hiring, exiting, and training, as well as hands on facilitation of programs and classes.

Programs Manager Duties

Climber’s Education:

Our Climbers Ed program has its sights set on expansion. As the assistant manager, climbers education will be a primary focus. You will be asked to:

  • Teach classes

  • Assist in hire, exiting, and training

  • Schedule instructors for classes

  • Collaborate in expansion conversations with the Programs Manager

  • Be the face of the program for marketing and advertising

Community Events:

Vertical View is a community, family focused gym and we pride ourselves on being welcoming and inviting to climbers of any level. You will be asked to:

  • Host community events with confidence and professionalism, including Adult Meet-Ups, Adult Leagues, the Pumpkin Pump, and other gatherings with attendance varies from just a few to 50+ participants

  • Collaborate in the planning and budgeting of events

  • Give input on marketing of events

Youth Programs:

One of the hallmarks of Vertical View is our youth programs building from intro to climbing all the way to national level competitive climbing. You will be asked to:

  • Coach in clubs or teams as needed

  • Assist in hiring, exiting, training, and scheduling of employees

  • Assist in planning USAC competitions

Preferences and Requirements

  • Must be 18+

  • Must be available 20+ hours a week on weekday evenings and occasional weekends

  • Must be open to a minimum commitment of 1 year

  • Must be Top Rope, Lead and Belay Takeover Certified at our facility

  • Must have outdoor and indoor climbing experience

  • Must be Safe Sport certified

  • Previous coaching or instructing experience is preferred

  • Physical ability to respond and react quickly and efficiently within the facility. Able to perform all movements relating to belaying and belay instruction; participate and show proper climbing technique, carry/lift up to 25 pounds; stand/sit/walk for extended periods of time.
