Ropes Course Guide


Overview

Ropes Course Guides provide a safe, positive, and well-supervised experience for all guests on the Vertical View Ropes Course. Guides assist with equipment fitting, deliver safety orientations, and monitor guests throughout the course to ensure all safety standards are followed.

Ropes Course Guides are responsible for ensuring that all equipment is in proper working order, briefing guests regarding safety procedures, and supervising participants during their time on the ropes course.

  • Be a positive representative for Vertical View by welcoming guests in a friendly and enthusiastic manner.

  • Create a fun and encouraging environment that helps guests feel comfortable and confident.

  • Interact with guests throughout their experience and provide encouragement when needed.

  • Promote a culture of safety, positivity, and teamwork among staff and participants.

  • Maintain a strong willingness to learn and improve ropes course skills and instruction techniques.

  • Provide safety orientations and explain how to properly use harnesses and the Clic-It safety system.

  • Ensure all participants meet participation requirements before entering the course.

  • Assist guests with harnesses, helmets, and other required safety equipment.

  • Monitor participants on the ropes course and enforce safety rules.

  • Maintain platform and obstacle capacity limits.

  • Respond to guest questions and provide assistance if someone becomes stuck or needs help.

  • Communicate clearly with staff members using radios or other communication tools when needed.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the gear area and ropes course environment.

  • Assist with opening, operational, and closing procedures.

  • Deliver clear and engaging safety briefings to guests before they begin the course.

  • Help guests understand how to navigate obstacles and use equipment safely.

  • Provide guidance to participants of all skill levels.

  • Work collaboratively with teammates to maintain a safe and supportive environment.

  • Adapt to different situations including guest questions, course congestion, or safety concerns.

Ropes Course Guide Requirements

  • Part-time | Weather dependent | On-site position

  • Age requirement: 18+

  • Must be available to work 10 - 20 hours per week, including Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays

  • Must complete Ropes Course Staff Training and Certification

  • Must be willing to participate in ongoing training sessions

  • Customer service or outdoor recreation experience in preferred

  • Must have proficient communication and teamwork skills

  • Must be able to remain calm and professional in safety-related situations

Physical Requirements

  • Demonstrates the capacity to move about the facility efficiently and to react in a timely way to safety situations

  • Demonstrates comfort in working at heights

  • Must be able to assist participants or perform rescue operations if necessary

  • Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, and work outdoors for extended periods of time
